Currently, over 14 % of the world population have no access to electricity and over 37% of the world population are without clean cooking facilities. The world distribution of this energy poverty largely coincides with the world distribution of overall extreme poverty. To “Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all” (Sustainable Development Goal 7) is a big challenge that the global community must rise to and win.
