May 1, 2015, Milan, EXPO 2015 - Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life – is open

04.05.2015

Fuel is not only used for cooking food when it is consumed or for preparing smoked foods or preserves. Today the agricultural and food chain is very much more productive and able to meet many human demands. It can overcome problems of distances and seasonal supply, but only by huge recourse to modern forms of energy.
Energy is needed to power pumps to draw water from the ground and to make water flow in irrigation channels and to power sprinklers. It is needed for refrigeration and to conserve foods that deteriorate. Energy is essential for processing and transforming agricultural and food products so they can be packaged and transported quickly, even over long distances. Access to energy for small producers in the food and agricultural sector means they can produce more products with greater value. WAME is inside EXPO2015, at Cascina Triulza, and outside the exhibition site, with several meetings that will deepen the access to energy in developing countries populations, through presentations, discussions and stories from territories.
