The World Water Week, organized by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), has been the annual focal point for the globe’s water issues since 1991. This edition is focused on “water and energy” and the UN initiative Sustainable Energy for All is the key partner.
Global demand for energy as well as water is growing and demand for both is projected to increase by over 50% in the decades. Water is vital for the production of energy, energy is necessary for water provision. Efficient production and use of energy and water is essential to ensure basic needs and development opportunities for people.
Our economies are entirely dependent on both so it is crucial to deal with the energy and water development and management, for the good of society and ecosystems.
With workshops, seminars and side events focused on various aspects of this theme, involving together key decision-makers, experts and practitioners from the different sectors and around the globe, the World Water Week aims to influence the decisions on investments and policy that will shape our future.
