14.12.2015

On December 11th ,2015 at COP21 in Paris, representatives of the participating governments released a global agreement that lays the foundation for a long-term commitment to combat climate change. The text provides for the requirement to limit the increase in global temperature of the planet "below the 2°C above pre-industrial levels by reducing emissions to 40 gigatonnes", ideally pursuing the most ambitious goal of an increase of only 1.5°C, in line with as suggested by the latest scientific research. This new agreement , however, must be continuously strengthened and signatory countries will implement actions at all levels to reduce emissions, implement energy transition to renewable resources and protect most vulnerable Countries. In addition, the industrialized countries have committed to a fund from the annual $ 100 billion (as of 2021, with a growth mechanism already programmed) for the transfer of clean technologies in Countries not able to do yourself the leap to green economy. The talks in Paris have therefore favored major commitments by governments , cities and enterprises that have sent a clear signal: the world is ready to switch to clean energy and renewable. The Paris COP21 started from national climate commitments taken by more than 180 countries , with the presence of more than 150 heads of State and Governments and mobilizations unprecedented , worldwide , hundreds of thousands of citizens to ask a strong action on climate change.
