The world’s first Global Stocktake will be the focal point of this year’s COP28. This process was never intended to just be an accountability tool or a measuring stick for where we are; endless reports have already told us that country and corporate climate promises aren’t measuring up. It was also designed to accelerate us toward where we need to be. But does it have the teeth to make a meaningful impact? How can it supercharge our transition to a greener, safer future?
Join the World Resources Institute (WRI) on May 18 for a webinar, where speakers will tackle these questions and explore the necessary steps for ensuring a process that packs a political punch. You will hear from leading experts on why the Global Stocktake must call for specific actions that government leaders, mayors, CEOs and advocates can take forward as soon as the final gavel of COP28 drops and why getting it right this year will not only set the pace for climate action over the next decade, but it will set the stage for future Global Stocktakes to come.
The event will be hosted in English with simultaneous interpretation in Spanish, French and Arabic.

Cecilia Kinuthia-Njenga, Director, Intergovernmental Support and Collective Progress, UNFCCC
Leon Charles, Charles & Associated, Inc.
