The Energy Access Portal provides an overview of a range of information related to Energy Access on the energypedia WIKI platform . 

CONTEXT

Energypedia is a wiki platform for collaborative knowledge exchange on renewable energy, energy access, and energy efficiency topics in developing countries.

Today one in ten people worldwide lack access to electricity, while every third person cooks on unhealthy fireplaces. First-hand knowledge on modern and sustainable energy solutions often only exists locally or in fragments and thus is difficult for individuals to access. Therefore, there is a great need to facilitate and expand the diffusion of these technologies in developing countries through knowledge exchange and collaboration.

Recognizing that development in the 21st century requires that all actors have access to information, energypedia is working towards removing the knowledge barriers and expanding the diffusion of information addressing the topics renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable energy access for all. Through this platform we strive to create an enabling environment and provide the right tools for stakeholders engaged in the energy sector to collaborate, create and share knowledge and practical experience.

OBJECTIVE

In 2018 WAME and Energypedia entered a partnership to build the "ENERGY ACCESS" portal on the Energypedia website. The Energy Access Portal provides an overview of the information on a range of topics related to Energy Access including:

- Technology Options for Energy Access
- Climate Change and Energy Access
- Planning Energy Access
- Monitoring & Evaluation
- Policy Framework for Electricity Access
- Demand on Energy Access
- Case Studies on Energy Access
- Financing and Scalable Business Models for Energy Access
- Energy Access Resources

The Energy Access portal is being updated and reviewed continuously by the WIKI community and as such contributes to the increased awaress of the +12.000 registered users coming from over 200 countries with over 85.000 unique monthly visitors
