HydroBioPower: livelihood improvement in rural area through collaborative development of renewable energy sources in Oromia and Southern Nations Regional States of Ethiopia



The project was directed at improving the access to energy services for the poor, un-served population living in rural areas of Ethiopia. The project focused on the installation of both hydropower and biogas plants in the targeted area, as well as improving the general knowledge on renewable energy and enhancing the institutional capacity for planning and managing energy-related interventions. The project aimed at improving the access to energy and hence improving the general socio-economic situation in communities, which are not a part of the current plans for expanding the national grid.
