Abstract
The project is directed at improving the access to sustainable and reliable energy in fourteen villages in the rural areas of Tanzania. Specifically, the project will build and operate a 4MW hydro-power 'run of river' facility, which will provide electricity to the village, the local tea industry and the national grid. Project activities therefore include establishing two companies - Mwenga Hydro Ltd. and Rural Power Distribution Ltd, establish the necessary legal prerequisites for the building of the 4 MW power station, construct the power station on the Mwenga river, as well as an estimated 120 km of high and low voltage power lines to supply the target groups.
