Gender Indicators for Sustainable Energy: A Call to Action

On 17 July, during the 2025 High-Level Political Forum, a special side event will be held at UN Headquarters to officially launch the new policy brief “Gender Indicators for Sustainable Energy: A Call to Action.”
Co-organized by UN DESA, UN Women, ESMAP, IEA, IRENA, and the conveners of the Gender and Energy Compact, the hybrid event will spotlight the urgent need for gender-responsive data and metrics to accelerate an inclusive and just energy transition. With SDG 5 under in-depth review and the Beijing Platform for Action marking its 30th anniversary, this timely session will bring together governments, civil society, and international experts to rally around transformative policy action that strengthens the nexus of gender equality and sustainable energy.
