The Paris UN Conference on Climate Change (COP21) represents an historic opportunity to put the world on course to meet the climate change challenge with a new model of growth that is safe, durable and beneficial to all. COP21 seeks to deliver a clear pathway with short and long term milestones, and a system to help measure and increase progress over time until we get the job done. To help fund this crucial but ambitious target, COP21 is aiming to raise $100 billion a year from 2020 through public and private sources in developed countries.

The Conference also represents a crucial moment in a transition towards a World with low carbon content. The attention and expectations are very high. Many countries, already industrialized or still developing, are already moving towards a more sustainable growth through the adoption of "National programmed contributes" to reduce the greenhouse gases emission, INDCs, which include plans from 2020. United States, China and the European Union will be crucial actors for the success of the Paris Conference, and what next steps for the World will be. The commitments announced by them for the future agreement may be considered ambitious and very different at the same time, for financial, technology transfer and knowledge. The involvement of the private sector and the creation of a political and regulatory environment to stimulate investments and Public-Private Partnerships are also crucial.
