CMCC Live event: Voices of the Transition - climate change communication for a sustainable future

18.09.2021

The event “Voices of the transition. Climate change communication for a sustainable future” will bring together a collection of voices whose different points of view will offer an in-depth look at the same challenge: finding the words and means to raise awareness on climate change.
Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition: young people talk to the governments, they highlight their priorities, put forward ideas and champion active engagement. Delegates of the Youth Summit, organized in Milan by the Italian Government, share their messages on the most urgent issues of the climate agenda right after the international summit ends on September 30, and setting the tone for the preparatory ministerial meeting to the 2021 UNFCCC climate negotiations (Pre-COP 26) in Milan.
Climate Music: what does climate change sound like? Music combines the talents and expertise of world class scientists, composers, musicians, artists, and technology visionaries. An idea that enables the creation and staging of science-guided music and visual experiences to inspire people to engage actively on the issue of climate change.
A snapshot of the Future: science, data, design: Angela Morelli (InfoDesignLab) and Massimo Tavoni (IPCC AR6 author) talk about how science and data visualization work together to build scenarios and tell us what the future looks like.

Theatre in action for climate: storytelling and live performance to foster dialogue about our global climate crisis, create an empowering vision of the future, and inspire people to take action. Theatre monologues based on the collaborative efforts of artists across disciplines and geographic borders.
At the event, the winner of the CMCC Climate Change Communication Award “Rebecca Ballestra” will be announced.
The Award, promoted by the CMCC Foundation, aims to showcase the best communication initiatives that spread awareness on climate change and honours the memory of the artist Rebecca Ballestra, who was committed to shaping a sustainable future and promoting positive transformation processes in the fields of science, humanities, economy, ecology and art.
During the award ceremony, two projects will receive a special mention assigned in collaboration with Radio3 Scienzathe daily science show of Italian public radio. The special mentions are named after the founder and producer of Radio3 Scienza, Rossella Panarese and Pietro Greco, science writer and one of the hosts of the program, who were pillars of science journalism in Italy.
